Office 365 is different it's an Office subscription service. Office 2019 is an upgrade to Office 2016. Microsoft goes up to the cloud with Office 365. Although this Office 2019 software won't be continually updated, it will receive "quality and security updates". Microsoft said Office 2019 includes a "meaningful subset of features that are found in Office 365", and it's not part of Office 365. You can purchase the suite once and use it as much as you want, but you won't get feature updates. So, the company is rolling out Office 2019 for Mac and Windows. "We recognize that some customers can't move to the cloud in the near term," it explained. While the company has been encouraging users to its cloud-based subscription service, Office 365, in order for them to access Office apps and regular feature updates, it realises some people still simply want to buy Office like the used to: once - that's it - with no subscription fee. Microsoft is planning to release Office 2019 later this year, and most users will be business customers who aren’t subscribed to Office 365. “Updates include new and improved inking features across the apps, like the roaming pencil case, pressure sensitivity, and tilt effects more powerful data analysis in Excel, like new formulas, new charts, and Power BI integration and sophisticated presentation features in PowerPoint, like Morph and Zoom,” explains Microsoft’s Jared Spataro. A separate Office 2019 for Mac version will also be available for macOS. Microsoft is targeting this Windows version of Office 2019 towards businesses that aren’t running Office 365, and the productivity suite will only run on Windows 10. 
Office 2019 will include the usual Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook client apps, alongside server versions of Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business.
The software maker is making its first Office 2019 preview available to business customers, with features that are typically found in Microsoft’s Office 365 subscription. Microsoft is starting to preview the features and changes to Office 2019 today.
